In April of 1973 April the 400-unit resort hotel, Tamarron Resort, located about 15 miles north of Durango and owned (then) by Florida-based Golf Hosts, Inc., broke ground. The hotel could handle at least a thousand guests at one time and sported an 18-hole championship golf course and many other amenities that attracted conventions from all over the United States.
In 2001 Rick Carlton, of Nashville Tennessee, purchased the property and from that, The Glacier Club was born. Glacier Club’s vision of an expansive community and exclusive luxury club has been realized and preserved. This little-known secret in southwest Colorado embraces the authentic history of Durango, tucked in the San Juan Mining District with the Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge carving through the landscape.
Glacier Club owners are offered year-round recreation and a natural landscape. There is a 36-hole golf course, casual and fine dining, two clubhouses (the Mountain Clubhouse and the Valley Clubhouse), a fitness center and spa, three swimming pools, and tennis and pickleball courts.
Real Estate at Glacier Club ranges from ½ level homes perched on top of a cliffside, and secluded cottages just steps from the Mountain Clubhouse to legacy estates. Each homesite offers stunning views and privacy, perfect for building a custom home to fit your tastes and needs.
