Vallecito is located in Game Management Unit 751, 463 square miles of mixed terrain, with elevation,
ranging from about 6,500 to over 12,000 ft., and comprised of 28% public and 72% private land, including
portions of the Weminuche Wilderness. The Weminuche is the largest wilderness area in Colorado,
spanning the Continental Divide and protecting the headwaters of the Rio Grande and San Juan Rivers.
With three 14,000’ peaks and numerous 13,000’ peaks, it is one of the most rugged and remote areas
for hunting in the San Juan Mountain Range. 2021 Harvest stats show a total of 1,151 hunters with 221
elk harvested in GMU 751.


This destination resort is located approximately 25 miles from Downtown Durango, home of the Historic
Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad and Purgatory Ski Resort. The secluded feel of this
